The best Indian dishes I ever had where the service is great and staff friendly. My favorite is the mango chicken or lamb. Been there 10 times and tried many different dishes and always delicious. Mango lassi drink is also a must have.

The staff members have no idea of what hospitality is. I was there to celebrate my fiancé's bday but the service offered by them spoiled our dinner Wastage of money and time. Poor food quality as well

Quite different to the average suburban Indian restaurant, Indique offerers a great choice of meals at a very reasonable price. And not your usual Kiwised menu of butter chicken and vindaloo. Birkenhead has three other Indian restaurants within a stones throw so I suppose the competition is quite intense, but having tried them all I reckon this is the best. Attentive but not overpowering service rounded out a nice night out.

I haven't been out to Indique in Birkenhead for a couple of years, so was keen to see how things were going. We had 20 gentlemen at our monthly gathering of curry eating connoisseurs. We started with popudums as we assembled. These were soon upgraded to proper starters, consisting of: Chicken Tikka, Samosas, Seekh Kebab and Onion Bhaji. Of these the chicken was great, and quite spicy relative to other variations around town. The onion bhaji was also a standout for me. Delicate fried slivers of onion in a light but crisp batter. Even the kebab was good – a dish that many other restaurants fail to perfect. The sauces that accompanied them came a little late in the course but were nevertheless very tasty. For my main course I selected a Chicken Handi. This was very good on the heat rating. I tried the benchmarking vindaloo and indeed this was super-hot, as ordered. The plates came out hot but the kitchen/serving crew took far longer to deliver the meals than anyone was anticipating. The breads were a great selection of the extensive range that is available. The background music was either non existent of so low that I couldn’t . A couple from our table complained that they got an unpleasant waft from the toilets but I couldn't detect it myself. The environment was generally well kept but I have to wonder why they still have a 2011 Rugby World Cup mural pasted on one wall. Apart from a drawn out delivery of meals, the service was excellent and the toilets in good nick. The overall meal time went quickly and we were all feed and watered within two hours. Scores ranged from 6.5 to 10 with a consensus of about 8 out of ten. In summary a great meal but I felt that some of the polish has worn off since my previous visit.
